Mercurio FINALLY BACK from the other side… and YES, He Rocked US!

Freddie Mercurio made his triumphant return for Demand Lucha at Stackt Market May 6th … and the Openweight Champion did indeed rock us!!

The over two year layoff for Demand Lucha and Mercurio was not kind to the Champ. His last 2 defenses were in front of huge crowds, being against former Tag Champion Lionel Knight during the November 2019 Muertos Tour and before that against Casanova Valentine at a packed Opera House. The champ was on a high, had an iron grip on his title and was arguably the most popular star in Toronto Wrestling.

But a popular star like Freddie needs the people. With the two year drought; the start/stop cancellations of Demand Lucha shows, along with his own Covid-19 brushes and other personal/familial issues, we weren’t sure we’d see Freddie in the ring again.
Demand Lucha was making plans for crowning a new champion and if early 2022 shows hadn’t been cancelled it would have happened.
But all that is behind us now… Mercurio has been announced for Luchapalooza and as one would expect, the Openweight Championship is on the line… in a 5 way Lucha Chaos Scramble!!!

Mercurio is as brave and reckless as ever. The multiman match has the odds against Freddie, and as is so often, he will fight competitors who have never even stepped into a Demand Lucha ring before.
Defending against any and all, the Commonwealth Openweight Championship has been in the hands of Mercurio for over 4 years; it is a title he has made his own and has been synonymous with him during its tenure under the governance of Demand Lucha.

Transgender athlete Edith Surreal is in action vs Freddie and others on May 26th

Mercurio has always considered the OPENweight championship OPEN to all… all creeds, colours, lifestyles and languages. Men, women, dogs, cats, young n’ old; all things alien and terrestrial… if you exist… you can have a shot! (His words, not mine)
An example of this being that his upcoming May 26th match is not only intergender, but also has a trans woman, a gay man and even a dude dressed like a MASSIVE FISH. Doesn’t get more inclusive

Open Hearts, Open Minds and Open contracts with liberty and title shots for all…. that’s the Openweight Championship through the eyes of Freddie Mercurio.

Keeping with his MO of giving title shots to newcomers, Mercurio returned on the Friday and was victorious against Ciroc Wild, Mike Law and Jody Threat, the latter of whom he will also face on May 26th.

On Saturday he teamed with newcomer Evander James and attempted to take the Royal Tag Titles from the dominate and dangerous Los Medicos.
The Medical maniacs have destroyed everyone put in front of them and their creepy manager Él Doctor, the infamous #ZOKNOV.

Freddie yells at Zoknov

Él Doctor already seems to have an unhealthy interest in Mercurio.

Los Medicos will defend their titles on May 26th too. Go to LUCHAPALOOZATO.EVENTBRITE.COM to get tickets.
