Back From Outer Space, Monkey May Be Suffering Vertigo?

A Merry Lucha Libre Christmas Show on Thursday, December 13th is a night of returns for Demand Lucha. The brand itself is returning to action after a 4-month hiatus and finds itself returning to the Opera House for only the second time in its history.

It’s also a return for a few Demand stars such as the mighty Bearded Bull, Seraphis, who has been absent as of late and scheduled to be apart of a traditional Lucha Libre Trios Match.

Another huge return for the company and a huge night for the man himself, Former Premier Champion, “The King of the North” Carter Mason, returns to action for the first time since May and goes for the gold once again. A debilitating injury kept Mason out of the ring for the summer and spring of 2018, an injury that he has been rather tight-lipped about. Many have inquired, but the nature of the injury remains a mystery. I’m sure his opponent, Current Champion Ophidian, is trying to get as much information about it as possible before the two throwdown in the Main Event.

Also returning for the first time since July 2017, where he lost against ACH, is the always entertaining Space Monkey. A staple at the company for a long time and a man (monkey) who has been part of some of the company’s most interesting matches, like a banana on the pole match at the Luchaproof event and even taking on legendary lucha mini, Octagoncito at our Harbourfront show.

Tickets began selling the minute the Simian Superstar was announced for the event, and rightfully so, considering the leaps and bounds he’s made in the business over the last few years, not to mention the smiles he puts on the faces of young and old. But another man who recently returned to Demand Lucha, Vaughn Vertigo, will certainly be looking for a return to winning ways and has not been putting smiles on anybody’s faces lately except that of his former tag team partner Gabriel Fuerza.

At our last show, Fuerza came out to take on Vertigo after he announced the first ever Demand Lucha version of his ongoing of on Vertigo Invitational. Smiling like a Cheshire cat as the two faced off, Fuerza, who was betrayed by Vertigo in early 2017 just before The Visionary was suspended, was obviously ecstatic to have the chance at some sweet sweet revenge. See the match in full below.

But now Vertigo has his sights set on Space Monkey. The two have been trading blows on Twitter all week. The primate opponent should be a valiant test for Vertigo as both men are known for their high flying antics and engagement with the crowd. This is the first time that the two have met under the Demand Lucha banner since the deadly seven scramble at Lucha de Los Muertos in 2016, where Carter Mason lost the Premier Championship he’ll be looking to regain the very same night these two high flyers meet.

Also announced for the evening, two men who have each been on a winning streak, but in very different styles of matches, will clash Christmas style as the Bob Ross of Barbwire Warhed takes on the Intergalactic Superstar from the Other Side, Freddie Mercurio.
