Yes, 2020 has been a real kick in the pants so far, and for our small Ontario wrestling Community, it’s just gotten a lot shittier. Demand Lucha hasn’t posted an article since mid-February this year. We held out as long as we could in canceling our 2020 shows and kept our head down at the beginning of the lockdown, hoping we could rise up with a quickly announced date and bounce back fast. Basically, we were hoping our next post would be positive and were holding out for that.
One thing we have done since lockdown is a watch-along of old shows on Twitch.tv every Tuesday and Thursday at 8pm. Tonight’s broadcast will be quite special, but unfortunately not the positive blog post we were hoping for.
Longtime deathmatch king, local hardcore wrestling favorite, and an all-around damn great guy, Shaun Morris AKA The HorrorShow Shaunymo, passed away this morning due to complications from a brain tumor. He had been suffering from this for a while buut certainly never let it show.
Shaunymo leaves us as the current and reigning Deathproof Fight Club Champion.
Tonight on Twitch.tv, and available for 14 days after tonight’s broadcast, we will be streaming Deathproof Fight Club’s “Tough As Nails – The Best of The Horrorshow Shaunymo” in full and in watch along style. Demand Lucha’s Hutch Henries will be hosting the pre-show and probably do some talking during matches without commentary.
We hope the majority of the Ontario community will join us and engage in chats on the twitch stream. Regale us with stories of Shaunymo.
This week has been particularly tough on the pro wrestling community already, with the #speakingout hashtag getting a lot of momentum and many tragic horror stories of sexual abuse and mental manipulation have come forth. Many people that have performed for not only our company but DeathProof and many other Ontario organizations have been called out and “canceled” for these heinous behaviors. Unfortunately, Shaun Morris has had to deal with the ultimate cancellation, and we will all miss the Shaunymo Show, with all the crazy antics he and his Death Proof compadres have engaged in for our pleasure.
